Denny’s has always been one of the more reliable chains for senior savings. Between the AARP discount and the 55+ menu, you’ve got two ways to pay less without giving up the classic Denny’s experience. We verified both offers at multiple locations, and the staff knew exactly what we were talking about each time — which is more than we can say for some other chains.
Here’s the full breakdown. Need a second opinion? Email us at hello@seniorslist.com — our team has been through this with hundreds of families.
Denny’s Discount Summary
- AARP members: 15% off, up to $10 maximum
- 55+ menu: Available at most locations with smaller portions at lower prices
- Veterans Day: Free Original Grand Slam for military members and veterans at participating locations
Denny’s does not offer a blanket senior discount across all locations. What it does offer is a solid AARP benefit and a widely available 55+ menu. Between the two, most older diners can find meaningful savings at breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
AARP Discount at Denny’s
AARP members are eligible for 15% off their total bill, with the discount capped at $10. To redeem it while dining in, show your AARP membership card at the start of your meal. If ordering ahead by phone, simply provide your AARP membership number. The offer does not require a minimum purchase, making it valuable even on smaller orders.
Not every Denny’s location participates, so checking with your nearest restaurant beforehand is good practice.
The 55+ Menu
Even without an AARP card, adults 55 and older can access Denny’s 55+ menu at most franchise locations. This menu features downsized portions of fan-favorite dishes at prices that reflect the smaller serving. It is a practical choice for anyone who finds standard restaurant portion sizes excessive, or who simply wants to spend less without sacrificing variety.
Veterans Day Military Offer
Denny’s has an established tradition of honoring veterans on Veterans Day. In recent years, participating locations provided a complimentary Original Grand Slam — two bacon strips, two eggs, two pancakes, and two sausage links — to active military personnel and veterans who dined in during designated hours. A valid military ID or DD 214 form was required to redeem the offer. A comparable promotion is anticipated for Veterans Day 2026.
